Addressing Rural–Urban Income Gap in China through Farmers’ Education and Agricultural Productivity Growth via Mediation and Interaction Effects

Narrowing the rural–urban income gap is an important challenge in achieving sustained and stable economic social development China. The present study investigates role of farmers’ education agricultural productivity growth influencing by applying mediation, interaction, quantile regression models to provincial panel data China from 2003 2017. Results show that, first all, China’s (TFP) continues improve, it mainly driven technical change (TC), with no significant efficiency (TEC) or scale (SC). Improving not only directly narrows but also indirectly improves further narrow gap. Due differences sources farmers, corresponding impacts on differ. Policy recommendations include continued investments training as well modernization for higher growth.
